I was wondering, if you people were present at the Q&A, what questions would you ask? Frankly speaking, I felt some had asked some really 'silly' questions and wasted the opportunity. I won't give examples lest I hurt their feelings, though I also understand really private questions would not be translated at all to the girls; the girls didn't even have a clue. You see, the translator really knows her job.

This time only, I will switch on the comment thinggie. I want to know what one proper question and one nastier one you would ask if you had the opportunity. You can post as anonymous if you are shy. Meanwhile I will also ask around and compose a list and come up with our own 1444 Q&A. When everything's done, I will move them to front page and post an entry on it. Reading the many reports from people who attended the convention, it came as a surprise when majority said that Rika is actually MUCH better in person. (Why would they even think Rika is bad in the first place?)

With so much Rika-hating going around in the internet, one of the main reasons just because Rika happens to be really close to Yossi, it is a great relief to hear people starting to appreciate Charmy.

Which is why I always believe, firmly, that our Yossi has great taste.

Do you realise that there will be no Ishiyoshi fandom if there isn't The Internet.

Idol worshipping, yes, as we know people are already crazy about The Beat_les and Mich_ael Jackson even before there is internet. Because there is still TV and radio and newspapers.

But do you think Ishiyoshi can survive or even exist if there's no internet?

In Japan itself maybe, where tv shows, news and neta are endemic, shared amongst those very few who happened to know each other through attending concerts.

1444 in Come Together

Whenever I watch a Gatas concert I would wonder why they have the worst-looking stage outfits ever! Ok, I know it's not the girls' fault at all, besides some people may argue that Yossi was looking so very cool in that black outfit. Anyway this place isn't about that but 1444!

But this is...

the only scene I see them interacting. It was as if they had purposely restrained themselves so that they won't become any talking point in jap forums, where they had been for past concerts.

However, I think I still manage to notice a little something else....

during EGGs' MC when Yossi asked where would the girls go (for holiday) if they had a few days off from work. Koretty and Sawa-chan chose to go overseas while Sengoku and Notchi preferred to stay in Japan. Following Sawa-chan's invitation to have Yossi join her in her holiday to Korea, Notchi, too, asked Yossi and Maichin and Konno - basically, all Gatas senpai - to go together with her to Hokkaido when Koretty asked 'why didn't you ask Rika-chan along?'. Although everyone - and I really mean everyone - in the venue (yes, including the fans) knew why Koretty had asked that question, Yossi had taken a longer time to response. She seemed stunned for a few seconds before she appeared to understand Koretty's real reason for asking, which everybody, of course, knew was 'why hadn't Notchi included Rika in her fav. senpai list?' However, during that few seconds, Yossi had appeared like she was thinking of other things, as if there was another connotation - like Koretty was asking 'Oh Notchi, don't you know Y would prefer to travel with R too? Of course you should but why didn't you ask R along?'. So, maybe Yossi didn't want to response and was waiting to see where things were heading so that she won't be caught saying the wrong stuffs. Come on, isn't it obvious that she wasn't thinking what others were thinking?

Me crazy? Well, just my little idiosyncrasy.

Watching hAngry and Angry performing in a live house I wonder if Rika had any rocker blood in her, or was she playing the role of Angry to a T? As for Yossi, well, she rocks badass, at least she appears to be. She was really enjoying herself. The camera seemed to like her too as it was on her most of the time, poor Rika getting a cameo only when she was near Yossi.

Sometimes I rather see a crazy Rika, because a reserved Rika is a dull Rika. >_<

i-shi-yo-shi in China

I have never seen an Ishiyoshi article in Japanese lest expect one in another language, so you can picture my surprise when I saw this posted in a jap forum. The article is from China although I have no idea if it's from a newspaper or a magazine or a newsletter. I was, nevertheless, intrigued.

The writer is no doubt an Ishiyoshi wota. He or she brought up some interesting points, some so in-depth that I thought only a die-hard wota would know, and for a moment I even had this strange notion that the writer actually visited this place. I may be wrong though I remember a China I.P had made over hundred hits in a single day on this blog a few weeks ago. That is because this place seldom have so many visitors, so I remember it clearly.

I wanted to do a translation for people who can't read Chinese, but I realize my translation skills is lousy and the fact that my Chinese isn't really that good. Fret not though as there is nothing new in the article as everything mentioned can be found in this blog too, except for one where it says Rika was caught adjusting Yossi's clothes when they were watching a baseball match, which I have no idea when that happened so I would appreciate if anyone could enlighten me. Other than that, I really appreciate the article though I just thought they could use better pictures. >_<

Rika should learn how to play the guitar, and
Yossi should learn how to be angry.

Actually they can forgo the guitar; they look so very much better with the soft toys.

Nothing's been heard of them recently.
Frankly speaking, besides the promo for the new single, Yossi and Rika are practically free of work. But being too free isn't a good thing as people will go fat and scandals will break loose, and fans will get restless. For people who aren't familiar with the wota scene in Japan, there's a flaming war going on right now. Yossi wotas are such an unpopular group. See, being too free isn't good.


side note: Oh yah, this ain't supposed to be here but I'm kinda intrigued by it so I'm mentioning it now. It seems that a certain Berryz lost her cell phone and pictures from it are starting to appear in the internet. If it is true, then there are more horrible things involved. Because the person who found the phone now has access to a lot of things - phone numbers of h!p members, explicit photos and videos (if there are any), many emails exchanges and private details. And in Japan, if you know the ID of a person, you could easily check his/her mobile number regardless the number of times s/he change it. As public figures, I hope the girls have common sense to use nicknames rather than full names of their family/friends in their phone directory, at least it won't make things easier for the person who suddenly have access to their phone.

Sometimes I think the coupling says alot about the shippers they have.
Through the years I have been managing this blog, I realized 1444 shippers are - just one word - subtle.

Everywhere I go, 1444 fans are lurkers. They are everywhere but never/seldom heard or seen. And like them, the couple they like have pretty much shared the same characteristics and are never quite 'in-your-face', except well, for that one scene in a PV in which they kissed, but hey, even that was done subtly, that it was supposed to be a 'behind-the-scenes' kind of thinggie, you know, stuffs you aren't supposed to know but somehow did because they got 'caught'.

So what I'm trying to say here is that, in pertinence to our 'lurking' nature, we are 'rewarded' with a scene that is so subtle and questionable that even when we have seen it a thousand times, we all are still left thinking whether or not they did it? SUCH is the subtleness reserved for us.

And now, for fans who like 'in-your-face' stuff? What are your rewards? Well, I would say FRIDAY had done a pretty good job. Being loud, you just need something louder to shut you up.
See? That's why I think a coupling says alot about the shippers it has.

Talk about the kiss is so rife now but I'm more interested in the rationale behind putting that scene in the pv. For me, it just kills the fandom, though I foresee a lot more jumping into the bandwagon. The ratio's like 10:1. Guess who's the winner in the end?

I like 1444 because I like subtle things and because I love linking the dots. Having an analytical mind, I always go beyond what's superficial when I look at things. An instinct which comes naturally. And that's why I like 1444, they are never (like Sei had said) 'in-your-face'.

But now... (sighz)

Nobody I know have been in this fandom longer than I do. I'm not being boastful here. How many of you here actually downloaded the first episode of hello morning from a japanese website instead of from winmx or nowaday, a tracker? Yes, back in those days, mpgs are uploaded to website that changes url as fast as you can click on the refresh page icon. And you need to use complicating japanese softwares to join up the split files. That's how long I've been in this fandom. And it wasn't really 1444 in the beginning...

Yoshigama was the more popular belief - because both girls were in pucchimoni and because both girls were often paired together in mo-tai, muSix and h!m, though 1444 did show some initial signs in aisaga's making of 'I Wish' and in 'Hesos' and slowly catching on during mr.moonlight days. Then a tabloid came out and killed everything and it had been yoshigoma until Ma_ki's graduation from MM.

Even after that 1444 are never close again, much to my disappointment. There were even times I wondered if they had each gone their separate ways. My worries were uncalled for for there came their bickering period where they were always at loggerheads and pissing each other off. The scene where Yossi came from behind to hug a crying Rika when she thought filming had stopped left a big impact in me. And I realize they were still 'friends' which made me love them more, than when they were back then, being publicly lovey-dovey. But...

when that and a sneak massage footage were released later... they clammed up again. Totally cooled off and nobody ever mentioned 1444 again for a long long time. During this lull period (end 2003-2005), another pairing was born, that till this day still garners a large following. And I believed it was also during this period that Yossi had gotten close to Mai-chin and Ayaka. However when Rika graduates, we see them interacting again during the concerts and people were reminded once again why they were the classic couple back in MM golden days.

So when Rika left MM in 2005, I thought... 'That's it isn't it? That's the end since they'll be seeing less of each other now that they are not working together?'. I was quite sure that would be the end of them when Rika popped up and took over the hosting job for h!m. I was elated. And I wondered if the management knew that fans just wanted to see them being around each other. So, for every episode, I found myself watching closely to see if there's any interaction between them. And I realized they seemed to loosen up and miggle more than before. What a blessing in disguise Rika's graduation turns out to be. And randomly, I'll see Yossi saying things like "that girl is like that..." or Rika shouting "Yossi" when the latter's up to her silly antics or Yossi always looking in Rika's direction during those sekai world games. You could almost see that they are more connected to each other than they are to the rest in the studio. I guess being together in Gatas, with its many practises and public events does help in a way or another. That was around 2006 when Yossi was still closer to Mai-chin and Ayaka.

Year 2007, we saw 1444 really blossomed again. So many netas to show they've gotten closer, beginning with wonderheart concerts in the beginning of the year where Rika had fallen sick but still insisted on performing and fans caught someone watching from behind the curtains. For that same concert, we see footages of them frolicking backstage while Rika, in a bunny suit, was waiting for her turn next to perform and you wonder what was Yossi doing there with Rika when she was supposed to be with the rest of the MM members. Months later, during Sexy 8 Beat concert tour, Yossi mentioned she received an email from Rika that morning wishing her success for the first show and she did the 'ice-cream & pudding' poking pose when asked during an MC to do a sexy pose. See all the Yossi-Rika link? Because Rika also mentioned about Yossi during a MC for her v-u-den concert. And when Yossi took over Nono's role in a musical, I wondered why both of them just seemed so fated to be together in whatever they do. There were fans' sightings of them turning up to watch each other's performance. To keep up the hype and push it to greater heights, their fun-filled and rabu-rabu performance (Cherry) on utadoki brought smiles and endless nights of sweet dreams to every 1444 lovers. Kemeko's announcement on Midtown that she spent a rabu-rabu christmas party at home with Yossi and Rika brought this good year to an end.

Year 2008 arrived furiously with more gatherings and parties and staying over, and this time at Rika's place. And very very unexpectedly, to the joy of 1444 worshippers, Yossi just blurted out 'ISHIYOSHI COMBI' on Midtown which is such a winner because we wonder why she knows a term only used by wotas? Has she been checking out wotas forums too? It shows she knows fans like to link her and Rika together and judging from their frequent private get together, she doesn't mind the rumors at all. Then there's Gatas fanclub tour to Hawaii with sightings of them shopping together. Interaction at Gatas public practises and matches (Rika's infamous own goal). Dinner shows. Having similar hobbies... liking pink, futsal, aromatic candles, overseas dramas... So many instances of them being more involved in each other's life more than work requires.

That makes me wonders if there was something...
something beyond the threshold of friendship...
subliminally...

but the fake kiss footage... THAT FAKE KISS...

It just kills everything.

After watching the show where Rika had gone to Nepal, I have only one thought: whoever has Rika as girlfriend or wife must be really fortunate.

I mean she is such a kind and caring person. She ain't faking it when she shows no qualms in carrying a child from a village where almost all kids are suffering from scabies - a contagious skin disease - or when she is drinking muddy water that had gone through only a simple filtration process. Not everyone can do that. I definitely can't, not without getting freaked out.





And when the village girl said she is happy when Rika asked her if she thought her life was hard, Rika was clearly shocked and moved nearly to tears. The girl's simple take on life - where happiness can be as simple as just having your family with you, has gotten Rika so ashamed that she said the girl had taught her something instead.

For people who never like Rika, I hope they will change their opinion of her after watching the show.

Judging from the photo, there seems to be a relatively huge turnout in Mitsubishi Summer Festival. A look across, there's definitely more people than what a 2,000 auditorium can hold - you know the capacity that often turns out for those small scale helloporo concert tours. And the fact that I know most of the crowd who watched this aren't h!p wotas makes me happy. The event helps them to be exposed to people who has never heard of them, and I'm very glad that the girls sang a repertoire of better songs from MM. The Peace, I Wish, DIN and Love Machine. That makes me wonder if up_front are admitting that MM's old songs are better than new ones.

Anyway, Yossi and Rika sounded great singing live, especially DIN. Very stable vocals. That kinda surprised me that they were actually singing live because I know that h!p girls always lip-synch for their concerts. I always believe that to be called a singer, one must be able to sing live and sound good at the same time, and obviously Yossi, Rika and Miki CAN sing live. Last time, MM always sing live for their concerts, and I really missed those times. but they stopped doing so when 6th and 7th and 8th gen joined. What an irony! Because the move shows their management don't even believe that girls they recruited are of singer calibre. It might be little things like that that has brought the downfall of MM; girls who can't sing and dance in a group that once represented Japan's pride.

No more of that now. Mention MM in Japan and most people will snigger and look at you as if you are a low-class, tasteless and disgusting wota. (WHEN WE ARE NOT!!) ^^

my thoughts are 'phew~ one less tv show to download now. ^^ '

Strictly speaking the last episode should be on the 14th or 21st of September since there will be recaps of famous scenes for the last and second last episodes... as if we needed that ^^

I am hoping there will be a replacement tv show involving H!P.
