No Yossi nor Ishiyoshi neta, but Rika is so cute in this episode I just have to mention her. I like how she went 'way~ way~ way~' two times in the show (13:00 & 16:17); so cute and so unlike her. Even Maichin said so. Then around 25:11, Rika must have put on a really funny face because Maichin suddenly said she hoped the listeners could see Rika's 'sugoi ossan kusai' face now. Well, I can so imagine it.
Now, did you realize how Rika was often tagged 'ossan' by h!p members? And she has showed 'uncle'ly' traits herself, like what Ayaya had accused her of (in a H!M episode) and how she called herself a Berry Cute otaku (Ongaku Gatas on Yumereji 2007-09-18), so beneath all her womanly image, she is probably just an old uncle in disguise. Besides, she looks the type with an on and off-screen character. I know many fans don't like Rika for what she was portrayed on tv; her uptightness, properness and, sometimes, 'scolding' personality, like her constant preaching of fellow v-u-den members don't really go down well with some h!p fans. But I digress, feeling that she might be a different person off screen; I deduce that from how Yossi and Maichin are constantly making fun of her, therefore, she must be someone who can take jokes. (If you have woman friends who get irascible over the slightest things, you'll know what I'm talking about here.)

When I first got into Hello! Project, I can say that I honestly did not like Rika at all. She was all those things on screen that people described her as -- uptight, preachy, and 'scolding' of other members. I grew to dislike her for a number of reasons, mainly her narcissistic attitude that she always displayed in front of the camera and how hard she seemed to try to make herself cute.
After viewing Ribon no Kishi, my opinion of her started to change a bit. I was deeply impressed by her ability to put forth emotion into her role as Prince Franz -- I daresay I enjoyed her performance more over Ayaya's (though when it comes to vocals, we know who the clear winner is). That type of heartfelt and raw feeling she displayed showed me that there was something more to this girl than I thought.
Throughout my countless of Hello! Morning shows, I started to get feeling that her image on-screen was a bit fabricated. Nevermind those attempts to trying to cute, there's been enough evidence that Rika is genuinely concerned with the well-being of others, i.e. the Futarigoto with Taikitty and Gaki. Another instance would be the Hello! Morning episode that placed Kaori, Tsuji, and her in an stimulated earthquake/blackout. This was the episode that turned me into a Rika fan. She was very quick, on the ball, and take-charge in that episode! She made sure to grab all the necessities while keeping both herself and Tsuji calm. Kaorin, on the other hand.. just up and left (what a leader!).
I know, a long comment but I gotta show love for Rika. :)
And yes, Risa seems to get mad or overreact at the slightest things. "Queen of Reactions," ne?
Oh yah, how can I forget her being really narcissistic. She's always talking about herself and herself. All topics will eventually lead back to herself. Haha~ I find it nuisance at first. But then I get so used to it now, I find it cute on how she can just talk about herself enthusiastically. And about her acting cute in front of the camera, she should know she's cuter when she doesn't try. Just being her narcissistic charmy self and pissing everybody off. I love Charmy!!
Ehhhh!!!!
How can you NOT like Rika at first???????
I LOVED Charmy when I first noticed Morning Musume! More like Rika got me into Morning Musume in the first place (but ironically I didn't really like Yossi at that time haha) She's funny in her own way, she doesn't exactly do stupid things on screen so she'll seem funny but its just how she presents herself on screen. Like her narcissism, making the rest of the girls, esp Yaguchi and Yossi, tease her big time or ignore her and stuff, then she'll be all embarrassed or pretend to be pissed off. KAWAIIii~
But I don't think her reactions are THAT exaggerating though. I'd agree with kata and say that Risa's reactions are more exaggerating..
PLUS the way she used to 'handle' Tsuji and Kago is pretty cute don't you think? Very oneechan or okaasan ppoi. -Showing that different side of her-
Other then that.... she's just soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo utterly beautiful for anyone NOT to like her... Personally I liked her look when she debut, major hot! Shocking how sexually attractive a 15 year old could actually look.
(Sorry if I sound like a guy there. Result of having too much guy buddies.)
LOL no long comment from me...BUT well, when I first got into MoMusu, I liked Rika, but not as much as I like her now. She grew on me, and now she's one of my favs. XP
I think the first time I saw Rika was when I stumbled across a DEF.DIVA performance while running a search on Ayaya. Rika stood out to me and I thought, "Hey, she's got nice face, but Aya totally kicks her ass in the vocals department." I got more into Hello!Project and I kept seeing Rika's face, but I just couldn't remember her name at first for some reason, lol.
Mm, I guess it also depends on the order you watch things in. The Mechaike specials were one of the first things I watched, and Rika didn't really rub me the wrong way in those shows. Next thing I know it seemed like she was the target of mass bashing, which I thought was pretty funny.
I could see some of the reasons why people wouldn't like her (as mentioned by ni), but it just never really seemed all that serious to me. But sure, it bothered me a little until I found out who "Charmy" really was. Rika can pull off the cute act without annoying me, unlike someone like uh...Sayumi. There's just something about Rika, perhaps the right combination of a lot of things, that makes me love her to bits.
As for her role in Ribon no Kishi, she's definitely "Prince Charmy".
